Visa for Australia

All visitors to Australia must have a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia.

New Zealand passport holders will normally be granted a Special Category visa on arrival. For more information, please click here.

It is advised that participants apply for their visa well in advance of their intended date of travel to Australia. Information about visa processing times is available here.

Please note that: Visa applicants aged 75 years or older that are applying for a Visitor(subclass 600) visa, are required to undertake a medical examination as an additional health requirement. For further information, please check ‘special significance situations’.

Letter of invitation

Please note that only registered delegates who have paid their congress registration fees will be issued a letter of invitation.

The letter of invitation can be downloaded directly via the online registration system once the payment is finalized.

Such an invitation is extended specifically to assist participants to obtain travel funds, appropriate visas, approvals, sponsorship or official leave.

It does not imply a commitment on the part of the organizers to provide any support, financial or otherwise.

 

Getting around Melbourne

Public transport

By Tram

The Free Tram Zone in Melbourne makes it easier for commuters to move around the city. Passengers do not need to tap their travel card if they travel within in the Free Tram Zone. If your trip starts or ends outside the zone, you will need to tap your travel card - Also known as Myki card! Click here to learn more about the Myki card.

Tram routes 96, 109 and 12 (Stop 124A Casino/MCEC) will all take you to our Clarendon Street entrance. Otherwise, tram routes 48 and 70 (Stop D5) take you to Flinders Street.

 

By Bus

From Monday to Friday, bus route 237 goes via Southern Cross Station to Lorimer Street, which is roughly a five-minute walk to MCEC.  There is also a coach pick up/drop off point at bay 1, Convention Centre Place (Closest to DFO South Wharf).

Access to MCEC parking:
Please note the car park can reach capacity early in the day during busy events. 
There are 1,060 undercover parking spaces available, managed by Wilson Parking. Entrance and exit off Normanby Road with a height restriction of 2.2 metres. Open 24 hours, seven days a week. For more information about parking, please click here

Alternatively, a taxi ride between MCEC and Melbourne International Airport has an estimated duration of 25 minutes and costs around 50 - 70 AUD (40 - 60 USD).

Operates from Melbourne Airport directly to the venue or to designated stops in Melbourne city centre.

Look out for the big red buses! 

AIRPORT TO MCEC: Take the SouthBank Docklands Express service from Terminal 4 at Melbourne airport. It is a short walk (400m) from the other terminals and is clearly directed with signposting. One-way ticket prices start at 18 USD per adult online. Book your space here!

AIRPORT TO CITY CENTER: Take the Melbourne City Express service operating from terminals 1,2 and 3. The average journey time is 30-45 minutes. One-way ticket prices start at 18 USD per adult online. Book your space here!

Operates from Melbourne Airport directly to the venue or to your hotel (door to door service) 

Bluebird Airport Shuttle provides a door-to-door service from Melbourne Airport into Melbourne City and Southbank area. They offer private transfers as well as charters with cars and buses.
