Travel grants

The WCN 2019 organizers, the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology (ANZSN) and the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN) are pleased to announce that there are two different travel grant programs on offer to ISN members wishing to attend WCN 2019.

1. The WCN travel grant program is reserved for ISN members residing in low income countries and LOWER-MIDDLE income countries.

2. Committed to advancing nephrology and promoting close collaboration across the Asia Pacific Region, the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology (ANZSN) and the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN) are pleased to offer a travel grants to ISN members who reside in low income countries and MIDDLE income countries in the Asia Pacific. 

 

 

Please note that although there is a unique online application system, the three travel grant programs (WCN, APSN and ANZSN) have different criteria.

What does the travel grant include?                                                                                                                        APSN, ANZSN and WCN

For both travel grant programs

1. Registration to the congress 

2. A contribution (not a full reimbursement) to travel and accommodation depending on the region you are located in. More detailed information about contributions below. 

The congress organizers offer a contribution to travel and accommodation according to the categories below. Travel grant recipients are encouraged to book as early as possible after they have been accepted for a travel grant. Please do not book before you receive confirmation for a travel grant.

It is the sole responsibility of the travel grant recipients to book their own travel and accommodation. Please be aware that payment can only be made by bank transfer after the congress.

The application process starts in July 2018 and grant winners will be notified by January 3, 2019. We will not accept any applications submitted after this date and time.

Key dates

November 12, 2018 (at midnight CET): Submission deadline. Any application received after the deadline will not be considered

January 3, 2019: Travel grants results announcement.

Travel grant applications will open at the end of July 2018. Please note that only online applications will be considered.

What is the criteria to meet for a travel grant?                                                                                                                                WCN only

WCN 2019 travel grant program is restricted to ISN Full members, ISN Joint Group members and ISN Trainees residing in low income countries and LOWER-MIDDLE income countries.

Exceptions are made for current ISN fellows who are training in developed countries and ISN Sister Renal Centers (SRC) Program participants from supporting centers.

   We give priority to:
  • Nephrologists presenting an approved abstract at WCN 2019
  • Nephrologists of 40 years and younger (born in 1978 and after)
  • Past and present ISN fellows and SRC participants.

Remember: Please be aware if you have benefitted from three travel grants in the past, you will no longer be considered for the travel grant program. 

What is the criteria to meet for a travel grant?                                                                                                           APSN and ANZSN only

ANZSN and APSN travel grant program is restricted to ISN Full members, ISN Joint Group members and ISN Trainees residing in low income countries and MIDDLE income countries.

Exceptions are made for current ISN fellows who are training in developed countries and ISN Sister Renal Centers (SRC) Program participants from supporting centers.

   We give priority to:

  • Nephrologists presenting an approved abstract at WCN 2019
  • Nephrologists of 45 years and younger (born in 1973 and after)
  • Past and present ISN fellows and SRC participants.

Remember: Please be aware if you have benefitted from three travel grants in the past, you will no longer be considered for the travel grant program. 

 

Contribution                                                                                                                                                            APSN, ANZSN and WCN

Contribution

The Congress will offer a contribution towards the travel and accommodation costs to Melbourne based on the following maximum contributions. Travel grants recipients are encouraged to book early once accepted and to not leave booking to the last minute. It is sole responsibility of the travel grant recipients to book their travel and accommodation.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Please do not register for the early bird rate if you are submitting a travel grant application! Travel grant results will be announced by January 3, 2019. Should your travel grant application be unsuccessful, you will still be eligible to register at the discounted early bird rate (Deadline for the early bird rate is January 21, 2019).

Only ISN members can take part in the WCN 2019 travel grant program. If you are not an ISN member, please take advantage of our special combined offer that includes ISN membership and registration for WCN 2019.
